…you may come to March buffet and play with then all!!!
LOOK what we will make ON Tuesday, March 13th at the  NEXT BUFFET CLASS using the FREE PARTY PANDAS and the gorgeous “Picture Perfect Party”  DSP – a 6×6 stack loaded with heaps of fun party images!  A BUFFET OF BIRTHDAY CARDS.
Where are the PANDAS?  It’s a surprise…come and find out!!!  Hint:  What’s a pop-up?
The PANDAS seem to be the favorite for this season.   So many ideas and fun ways to use this set, it actually took me awhile to come up with something different from what is already floating around online.   I’m having lots of little people with birthdays coming up so  a friendly pack of pandas dropping by with picture perfect paper would definitely be welcomed guests!!!
The colors that coordinate  are Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Peekaboo Peach, Berry Burst & Pool Party. These were dictated by the colours in the gorgeous “Picture Perfect Party” DSP.
picture perfect paper pack

Stampin’Up – Envelope Fish Treat Holder from a simple envelope!

It’s still COLD BRRRR….but the sun is beautiful!

FISH?????  Why fish and why this project? I always trust the Spirit within to give me perfect ideas exactly when I need them. Anne Oshiro is the originator of this project and I am sharing Rachael Tessman’s version of her lovely idea which was a perfect solution for our need.   I am grateful to both for being able to CASE (Copy and Share Everything) it.

One again, I was prompted to share this idea and my story today as our dear friend Evan is about to leave this earth. He is in hospice care because of terminal cancer.  A  dear and gentle friend, Evan was a craftsman, plumber, electrician and “fixer” of many things in our home in Berkeley Springs, WV.  I remember him using dousing rods to find our well that was embedded in the foot hills.   A unique soul and giver of advice, Evan touched many lives and requested a gathering before his departure so his friends and family could celebrate his life and times while he is still here.  His daughter asked that we each make an Origami figurine with a note inside about how Evan touched our lives.   She is stringing them together as they will become part of the decorations for the gathering.

It is an old custom in Japan for children to make strings of origami cranes and hook them together in a 1000 crane bouquet.   The legend is told in a children’s book “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” the  story of Sadako after the  atomic bomb in Hiroshima in 1945.220px-Sadako_and_the_thousand_paper_cranes_00

Rachel’s Fish Treat Holder was really fun to do. You can see the video here.  It is easy to follow and all you need is an envelope and scissors to get started.  I will include the recipe if anyone is interested in trying it.  She also  used the paper from  the December Paper Pumpkin kit to make her original fish.

Here are the measurements you’ll need if you plan to recreate this fish.

  • Very Vanilla Medium Envelope
  • Painted with Love Specialty Designer Paper: two strips that are 1-1/4″ x 6-1/2″
  • Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper
  • Basic Black Cardstock: Scrap for punching out two 1/2” circles
  • Island Indigo Cardstock: Scrap for punching out two 3/4” circles
  • Gold Mini Sequin Trim: 13″
  • Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon: 7-1/2″

    To prepare any envelope base…

    • Cut to a square
    • Score at the diagonal
    • Trim in at each end of that diagonal score line
      • Medium size envelopes – 1-1/2″
      • Note card size envelopes: 1-1/8″
      • 3″x3″ envelopes: 1″
      • Narrow note card envelopes: 3/4″
    • Mark how far in with your pencil
    • With the open end of the envelope (if there is one) to the right, cut from the pencil marks to the right corner
    • Then position envelope diagonally in the trimmer again (nose to tail tip) and cut again from the middle score line to the tail tip.
  • I hope you find the time to try this spectacular fish project…it is really fun to do and looks good with ANY colors.  It holds a Ghiradelli chocolate treat perfectly.

Hello Stampers!  Where did the time go???  I am not a procrastinator but I sure do procrastinate over this blog.  We had such a great time making valentines and trying out the Stampin’ Blends, the stamping tool (anticipating the Stamparatus). playing with the new DSP (Designer Series Paper) and learning to make Billie Bows with linen thread.  It’s so inspiring to work with stampers who enjoy the craft and each other.  I look forward to each class and all the new friends you bring.   Thank you for your confidence in me to be able to provide cards that meet everyone’s desire.  And, as always, if you have a particular theme or celebration you want to work on, or even a particular stamp set that is of interest, please be sure to let me know in advance so I can prepare a kit for you.

Sometimes stampers are unable to complete the 5 card minimum at the class.  I have a box of card kits from which to choose so that you can reach the minimum and make the kits at home.  If anyone wants to take home a kit or 2 the current introductory price for the card kits is $2.00.    If you miss a class and or a kit that is no longer at the buffet, I will try to have those card kits available hopefully the next month.

We also had an upgrade on the lavender sachets with the new Lots of Lavender Free kit from the sale-a-bration catalog.  The scent of lavender permeated the room and the new design on the sachet bags was a perfect match.  I may bring it again to the February class for a last minute valentine “gifty.  I have a beautiful gold embossed lavender card for the next class – Amy shared it at our meeting.  I am addicted to lavender so we will be making that one.  Thanks Amy!  I may post a sneak peek at the cards I am planning sometime next week so be sure to check the Facebook page.

Sale-a-Bration is the best time of year for Stampin’ Up.  For every $50 you spend (before tax and shipping), choose a FREE product from this brochure. Plus, new this year: Earn even bigger rewards when you spend $100 (before tax and shipping).

Our new location and the extra time has given us a huge window in which to stamp.  Some come at 3 and others come after work which spreads things out nicely.  However, it is difficult to have a drawing when people are coming and going.  So we decided to have the drawing at the end of the evening.  Meera was there to help pull the winning tickets.  Congratulations to our winners:

Lisa J., Rosie G. and Suzanne GM

Be sure to come to the next class on February 13th to claim your prize.

The Heartfelt card Heartfelt thoughtswas probably the most popular one last time.  I may change it up a bit and bring it again in different colors, of course.   It is a beautiful stamp that looks watercolored.   Don’t you just love that crinkled seam binding?   I will be bringing cards to make from the new Sale-A-Bration catalog.  So many wonderful choices of free products for each $50 purchase you make.    I can’t decide which ones I like best: the Celebrate you Thinlits, Amazing you stamp set, and those cute Party Pandas.  Went to a team meeting with Amy last night.  She had kits for us to make a unique barn door card.  Then we played with Brusho – the new powdered crystal colors.

I love the white on white look – so simple, yet elegant.  I was playing with the Botanical builder framelits and love that leafy vine that makes a perfect cut across the page.  I silver embossed the words across the page and used various embossing folders to tuck underneath.  I also used the sweetheart embossing folder to adhere to the other side of the front of the card.  It gave some stability to the embossed top.    It has a plain simple  heart in the center on white, of course.  I am still playing with the silver strip along the vine on the front card.  What I really wanted to do was cut out those leaves and fill in the open ones with silver….it needs more thought.  The actual cards  look better than the photographs.

I’m also making some felted soaps this weekend.  I love working with wet wool and watching it knit itself together to form fabric….such fun.

If you haven’t already, be sure to reserve your spot for the next buffet on February 13th.  I may have a last minute valentine kit for you to play with just in case.

Should be a fun week coming up with all the “weather” in the forecast.  Stay warm, be safe and enjoy the beauty of each day.  Thanks for stopping by….leave a comment and please like our Facebook page.

Ring in 2018!!! Send a calendar card.

There have been so many new posts about calendars, I was inspired to make one for a few friends.  I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything)  the idea from a post by Kelly Acheson, a Demonstrator from Menasha, WI.  She used the Beautiful Bouquet Bundle from the new January Occasions Catalog.

Since I promised to send ideas and a recipe for a new card each month I thought I  could get a head start for the new year with this calendar card idea.  I used Kelly’s idea, tweaked the dimension, changed the colors and the bundles.  Use your own color combinations and ideas for a cover and a back side.  This color combination spoke to me about a new season coming!  The flowers are from the Colorful Seasons Bundle which is so versatile for every season.  I used the wood grain DSP to cut the branches and hand colored the flowers.

Here is the link for the Calendar PDF

which needs to be printed on copy paper and each month cut 2 1/2″ x 2 1/4 “.  Then stack and staple together (try to keep the staples straight – mine are crooked)!!

Ah…such an early breath of spring is in the air!!!

Go here to get the complete  directions from Kelly’s post with pictures on how to make a beautiful calendar card.

End-of-Year-Blowout-IconOFFER EXTENDS THROUGH JANUARY 2018:  If you purchase the Colorful Seasons Bundle(p.147) or Beautiful Bouquet stamps( p.92), Bouquet Bunch Framelits (p, 213) directly from me and not through my website, you may deduct a 15% discount (*in addition to the 10% bundle discount)  if ordered by January 31st 2018.  I cannot discount the order if you order on line.
